So you found a dope vocalist and you’re ready to record them.
You can feel it.
You’re EXCITED to add all the overdubs, doubles, high layers, low layers, harmonies and it’s gonna be the BEST. vocal. Ever.
But wait– put a Tape stop on that thought and hold on.
You’ve gotta be careful because when recording vocals, it’s all about FOCUS.
Record the main vocal part first and getting the performance perfect.
This means from verse to chorus to bridge.
Even if it’s just a one line song, make sure the entire thing is recorded and edited flawlessly.
Once you have the WHOLE vocal perfect, that’s when you can spend time figuring out harmonies or recording doubles.
Doing it this way won’t compromise the performance and allows you to focus on one thing at a time.
And surprise, the process will actually be FASTER and SMOOTHER.
You and your vocalist will thank you for doing it this way.
Trust Me.
